International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD), observed annually on August 31st, serves as a critical global campaign to raise awareness about overdose, reduce the pervasive stigma associated with drug-related deaths, and acknowledge the profound grief experienced by families and friends who have lost loved ones or witnessed them suffer permanent injury due to drug overdose. It is a day not only for remembrance but also for decisive action [1]. This significant day promotes the understanding that overdose is preventable and underscores the vital importance of implementing evidence-based prevention and treatment strategies.
As the global community prepares to observe this crucial day, Prevention Awareness Support Services (PASS) is proud to stand alongside its dedicated community partners in Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin Counties, organizing impactful events designed to foster awareness, provide essential resources, and offer unwavering support to those affected by the overdose crisis. These local initiatives are a testament to the collective commitment to combatting this public health challenge, bringing together diverse stakeholders to create a unified front against overdose.
