About the Event
Why are we offering this training?
The Allen County Suicide Prevention Coalition developed the Bartenders as Gatekeepers project to provide targeted suicide prevention for males between the ages of 35 and 64. This population exhibits the highest suicide rates at both the national and local levels and is one of the most difficult populations to reach for prevention efforts. Substance misuse significantly increases the risk of suicide, with 22% of deaths by suicide in the United States involving alcohol intoxication (CDC, 2014). In an effort to prevent suicide among this “harder to reach population," ACSPC developed a targeted and innovative project (i.e., Bartenders as Gatekeepers) to reach middle-aged men at risk of suicide.
A.S.K. (Alcohol Server Knowledge)
Agents of the Ohio Investigative Unit along with the Allen County Suicide Prevention Coalition are bringing you and your employees the A.S.K. (Alcohol Server Knowledge) program, and the best thing is that it's FREE! The certified police officer will educate the attendees on Ohio liquor laws regarding underage sales, intoxication, and after-hour sales of alcohol violations as well as your civil and criminal liability. This training will train you and your employees to be complaint as well as keep the community safe. Once completed, employees of liquor permits will receive a letter from the Ohio Investigative Unit acknowledging the training program was completed.
Q.P.R. (Question. Persuade. Refer.)
Much like CPR for people who aren't breathing, QPR can interrupt a suicide crisis and direct someone to proper care.
Knowing QPR means saying "Yes" to possibly saving the life of a friend, family member, or neighbor.
Please RSVP to Joann Rosengarten via email, jrosengarten@passaah.org or call, 419-549-8530 x111 with how many employees will attend and from which liquor permit premises.
